From 10th to 14th September 2019, at 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu St., the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Asia Conference on Business and Economic Studies (ACBES) along with two academic workshops (2nd Publishing Workshop and Mini Conference) were organized by Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies (JABES), sponsored by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), British Academy, Economic & Social Research Council - E.S.R.C, Huzhou University, China; CFVG and Vietnam Airlines. There are more than 300 researchs from 27 countries attending these events.
Attending the Opening Ceremony of ACBES 2019 were the world-class Keynote Speakers of leading universities: Dr. Christopher Waller - Executive Vice President and Director of Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis, USA; Dr. Sandro Sozzo (University of Leicester, UK).
On the UEH’s side, there were Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Huu Huy Nhut - Vice President; Prof. Su Dinh Thanh - Editor-in-Chief of JABES, Chairman of ACBES.
ACBES 2019 welcomed over 150 researchers, professors, lecturers, PhDs from 27 countries, such as: UK, Germany, USA, China, India, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Brunei, UAE, Vietnam,…
Speaking at the Conference, Prof. Su Dinh Thanh - Editor-in-Chief of JABES, Chairman of ACBES 2019 shared: “With the aim to become a research, training, consulting center towards Economics, Business, Management, and Law on par with other prestigious higher education institutions in Asia, UEH always encourages international publication in order to contribute to global knowledge Therefore, ACBES 2019 is a truly great chance for scientists, researchers, economists, lecturers, and Ph.D.Candidates to gather, share, exchange, and discuss key issues in relevance of economic development and business sustainability for national and regional prosperity.
Through this discussion, young researchers will have the opportunities to learn from professors, experts, chief editors the experience within the field of international publication; as well as opportunities to promote and develop personal ideas, formulate article structure, complete drafts, and submit them to prestigious press or seek sponsorship for their research topics. JABES is honorable and pleased to welcome all scientists, economic specialists, researchers, lecturers, research students; and especially the two distinguished Keynote Speakers in attending the Conference."
In addition, Prof. Su Dinh Thanh highly appreciated every presented research journals at conference. The accepted papers also generate significant empirical findings, logically applied to the real context from a country to different regions and cities. He also acknowledged important support from researchers to complete the Journal prior to its publication. Additionally, its plan in being ranked and qualified as a scientific journal according to the SCOPUS List. From then, a bridge between Vietnamese research communities and ASEAN ones will be formed, creating a more communal and globalized connection than ever. On this occasion, Prof. Su Dinh Thanh called out to the research attendees for their support and collaboration for writings done on JABES Journal (English version, found on EMERALD International Publisher) after conference.
After over 9 months of calling upon research journal, more than 200 papers have been sent to the ACBES 2019 from 193 authors in 27 different countries all over the world; among them, 96 high-qualified ones were selected, pressented, and discussed at the conference. Especially, over 70% papers were from various international schools. These researches have make meaningful contributions in both theoretical and practical sides of economy, finance, marketing, international business and business administration.
During the 2019 ACBES Conference, two other important events have taken place from the 10th to the 12th of September, 2019 including:
-The 2nd Publishing Workshop co-organized by The University of Leicester, UK, between 10th and 12th of September to provide support for the young researchers in improving their own research skills, quality of research paper and their research publication’s rank on regional and international journals. There have been more than 30 young researchers participating in this event together with 7 professors from UK, Denmark, and Malaysia
-The Mini Conference was held in the evening of 12th September over the topic of human activities and influences on the Earth and climate change along with possible solutions for the issue. The influence of human and economic activities on the planet have gained its own name during these two recent decades: The Anthropocene, introduced in detail to help researchers gain a better understanding of this era. The era that reveals how the natural world has changed drastically due to the reckless interference of human and never-ending “Economic Growth” activities on the environment, raises warning about climate change, CO2 exhaustion rate and shows how the Fintech industry together with the “Slow Design” project can be the feasible solutions for this very era. This is also the crucial aim in holding The 2019 ACBES. Besides, the MOU signing ceremony between The University of Leicester (School of Business) and University of Economics Ho Chi Minh city under observation of English Vice-Consul also took place during the same evening. There have been more than 120 researchers from different majors, industries and other media agencies joining in the Conference.
During the Conference, The Organizing Chair has chosen the 3 excellent papers for the Best Paper scientific awards: UEH Research Award, CFVG Research Award and Huzhou University Research Award. Additionally, activities such as visit to Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange also contributed greatly to the grand success of The 2019 ACBES Conference.
In the evening of 13th September, 2019, Victory Hotel, the organizing committee has successfully run the City Tour program to provide opportunities for researchers in expanding their network and give a tour around city’s famous locations (including: Independence Palace, Municipal Theatre, Ben Thanh Market…) to the global scientist communities.
In the evening of 14th September, 2019, the organizing comittee also organized City Tour, introducing a number of main landmarks in HCMC such as: Independence Palace, Ben Thanh Market, City Opera House… to research community from various countries.

Phát biểu khai mạc Hội thảo, GS. Sử Đình Thành - Tổng biên tập JABES, Chủ tịch điều hành ACBES 2019 chia sẻ: “Với định hướng trở thành một trung tâm đào tạo, nghiên cứu và tư vấn về khoa học kinh tế, kinh doanh, quản lý và luật có uy tín ngang tầm với các cơ sở đào tạo đại học trong khu vực châu Á, UEH luôn khuyến khích công bố quốc tế đóng góp tri thức toàn cầu. Vì vậy, Hội thảo quốc tế ACBES 2019 là nơi dành cho các nhà nghiên cứu, giảng viên, nghiên cứu sinh đến từ nhiều nước trên thế giới đến gặp gỡ, chia sẻ, trao đổi và thảo luận những vấn đề quan trọng liên quan đến phát triển kinh tế và kinh doanh bền vững vì sự thịnh vượng của quốc gia và khu vực. Thông qua đó, các nhà nghiên cứu trẻ có cơ hội học hỏi các giáo sư, chuyên gia, tổng biên tập kinh nghiệm trong lĩnh vực công bố quốc tế; cũng như có cơ hội phát triển ý tưởng, xây dựng cấu trúc bài báo, hoàn thiện bản thảo, nộp cho các tạp chí chất lượng cao và tìm cơ hội tài trợ đề tài nghiên cứu”. JABES vinh dự và vui mừng chào đón tất cả các nhà khoa học, chuyên gia kinh tế, nhà nghiên cứu, giảng viên, nghiên cứu sinh; trong đó, đặc biệt cảm ơn hai Keynote Speakers tham gia trình bày và thảo luận tại Hội thảo.
Bên cạnh đó, GS. Sử Đình Thành đánh giá cao các bài viết nghiên cứu được trình bày tại hội thảo, các kết quả nghiên cứu trên là những phát hiện thực tiễn quan trọng, được ứng dụng một cách khoa học vào bối cảnh thực tế từ quốc gia đến các vùng miền, thành phố. Đồng thời đánh giá cao sự hỗ trợ từ phía các nhà nghiên cứu nhằm hoàn thiện Tạp chí trong tiến trình tiếp cận cộng đồng, và xa hơn nữa là trở thành một tạp chí khoa học được xếp hạng vào Hệ thống các Tạp chí đạt chuẩn SCOPUS (SCOPUS List). Từ đó, góp phần kết nối cộng đồng nghiên cứu của Việt Nam với Khu vực Châu Á - Thái Bình Dương và xa hơn nữa là vươn ra tầm thế giới. Nhân dịp này, GS. Sử Đình Thành đã kêu gọi các nhà nghiên cứu tham dự hội thảo hỗ trợ và hợp tác gửi bài cho Tạp chí JABES (phiên bản tiếng Anh, hiện diện trên Nhà xuất bản quốc tế EMERALD) sau Hội thảo.
Sau hơn 9 tháng kêu gọi bài viết nghiên cứu, có hơn 200 bài viết đã gửi về tham gia ACBES 2019 từ 193 tác giả đến từ 27 quốc gia trên thế giới; trong đó, 96 bài báo đạt chất lượng tốt đã được chọn lọc và trình bày, trao đổi tại Hội thảo. Đặc biệt, trong số 96 bài báo nói trên, có trên 70% bài tham luận đến từ các trường của nhiều quốc gia trên thế giới. Những nghiên cứu này đã có đóng góp ý nghĩa về lý thuyết và thực nghiệm trong các lĩnh vực kinh tế, tài chính, marketing, kinh doanh quốc tế và quản trị kinh doanh.
Trong khuôn khổ của ACBES 2019, có hai sự kiện quan trọng khác được tổ chức từ ngày 10 đến 12/9/2019:

The 2nd Publishing Workshop do Đại học Leicester (Anh Quốc) đồng tổ chức diễn ra từ ngày 10–12/9 để hỗ trợ những nhà nghiên cứu trẻ trong việc cải thiện năng lực nghiên cứu, chất lượng tài liệu nghiên cứu và công bố nghiên cứu của họ ở thứ hạng cao các tạp chí trong khu vực và trên thế giới. Đã có hơn 30 nhà nghiên cứu trẻ tham gia cùng với 7 giáo sư từ Anh Quốc, Đan Mạch, và Malaysia trong sự kiện này.

Mini Conference được tổ chức vào chiều ngày 12/9 về ảnh hưởng của con người và các hoạt động của mình lên Trái Đất và biến đổi khí hậu cũng như các giải pháp khả thi cho vấn đề nghiêm trọng này. Ảnh hưởng của con người và hoạt động kinh tế trên Trái đất, được đặt tên trong gần hai thập kỷ qua: Kỷ nguyên Anthropocene, đã được giới thiệu chi tiết nhằm giúp các nhà nghiên cứu hiểu rõ hơn về thời đại hiện nay. Kỷ nguyên mà thế giới tự nhiên thay đổi do sự can thiệp của con người và các hoạt động tăng trưởng kinh tế, cũng như cảnh báo về khí hậu thay đổi và mức độ phát thải CO2 cũng như làm thế nào ngành Fintech và dự án Slow Design có thể là một giải pháp cho thời đại này. Đây cũng chính là tiền đề quan trọng cho khởi động ACBES 2019. Bên cạnh đó, lễ ký kết MOU giữa University of Leicester (School of Business) và UEH dưới sự chứng kiến của Ngài phó tổng lãnh sự Anh Quốc cũng diễn ra trong buổi chiều cùng ngày. Đã có hơn 120 nhà nghiên cứu từ nhiều ngành, các doanh nghiệp và cơ quan truyền thông tham dự Mini Conference.
Tại Hội thảo, Ban tổ chức cũng đã chọn ra 3 bài viết để nhận các giải thưởng nghiên cứu Best Paper: UEH Research Award, CFVG Research Award và Huzhou University Research Award.
Ngoài ra, một số hoạt động khác như tham quan Sở Giao Dịch Chứng Khoán Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh cũng diễn ra góp phần mang lại thành công lớn cho Hội thảo ACBES 2019.
Tối ngày 13/9/2019, tại Khách sạn Victory, Ban Tổ chức Hội thảo đã tổ chức buổi gặp mặt thân mật các nhà khoa học tham dự Hội thảo (Gala Dinner) thu hút được đông đảo các nhà khoa học gặp gỡ, giao lưu, cũng như chia sẻ những cơ hội hợp tác nghiên cứu trong tương lai.
Chiều ngày 14/9/2019, Ban Tổ chức Hội thảo cũng đã tổ chức thành công chương trình City Tour nhằm mục đích tạo cơ hội cho nhà nghiên cứu muốn mở rộng mạng lưới và giới thiệu một số địa điểm của Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh (gồm: Dinh Thống Nhất, Nhà hát lớn thành phố, Chợ Bến Thành…) đến cộng đồng khoa học ở các quốc gia trên thế giới.
